Terms & Conditions governing publication of Decathlon reviews

These terms & conditions (hereinafter referred to as “Terms & Conditions”) shall apply to any Customer/User who has purchased products or/and availed services (hereinafter referred to as “Customer/User”) from Decathlon Sports India Private Limited (hereinafter referred to as “DSI/ Decathlon Sports India”) and wishes to submit reviews regarding such products or/and services on the official website or/and mobile application of Decathlon Sports India.


What is the purpose of the Decathlon review service?

The Decathlon review service enables the Customer/User whose phone number/email address was used to bill the product/ avail the service to share their assessment of the products purchased and/or services availed.

Such reviews posted on the Decathlon website are intended to help a prospective customer/ user in choosing the right product/service for themselves.


Who can submit reviews through the Decathlon Review Service?

The right to submit a review is restricted to the registered Customer/User through whose account the product was purchased/service was availed. It is preferred to have the Customer/User submit reviews only if they have tried/experienced the product/ service themselves or are representing another who has used the product or availed the service. Such reviews are to be authentic and not be based on hearsay comments. The Customer/ User who wishes to submit a review will have to mandatorily read and accept these Terms & Conditions and declare that they accept them.


What is the time period for which a review will remain active after it is posted?

Once a review is posted, it will be available for at least 1 year from the date thereon. In case the transaction of the Customer/User is found to be fraudulent/irrelevant, Decathlon Sports India will reserve its right to remove the review posted.


What are the different means through which a review can be submitted?

(a) After the Customer/User completes the purchase of a product/ service by providing their phone number/email address, the Customer/ User will receive an email regarding submission of a review for the purchase made/service availed. If the Customer/ User goes ahead to submit a review, they will be redirected to the official website where they can submit their review.
(b) The Customer/User can submit their reviews on the product page through the official website of Decathlon Sports India.
(c) The Customer/User can submit their reviews on the product page through the official mobile application of Decathlon Sports India.


What are the fields to be filled compulsorily to submit a review?

To ensure that a review is accurate and assessable, Decathlon Sports India has made some fields compulsory in order for the same to be submitted. The Customer/User must fill in compulsory fields such as:
(a) overall rating of the product/ service – Out of 5 stars where 1 is the lowest and 5 is the highest.
(b) comment section to allow the Customer/User to describe in detailed words about the product/service.
(c) time period for which the Customer/ User has used the product/service to analyse & assess the review.
(d) name of the Customer/User which is automatically populated based on the registered account details.
Keeping in mind the purpose of the Decathlon Review Mechanism and the intention to serve the Customer/User better with every passing day, the Customer/ User must agree to provide correct details like email address/ phone number. Decathlon Sports India assures that the personal details shared will not be made available on the official website and/or mobile application. To ensure confidentiality, the personal details of the Customer/User are not available to all. In special cases, if the Customer/User needs to be reached out directly, the authorised internal team of Decathlon Sports India will be able to access the details.


What are the rules/guidelines governing the submission of a Review?

(a) All reviews should be submitted in English language;
(b) A review will be considered valid only when it is submitted by a registered Customer/User who has purchased the product and/or availed the service, tried/experienced the product/ service themselves or are representing another who has used the product or availed the service. Any Customer/ User submitting a review, when a said product/ service is not in their purchase history will not be considered to be valid.
(c) The Customer/User should submit their reviews about the product/service in a manner which will be useful and informative for a prospective customer/user.
(d) The Customer/User’s comments should not be limited to merely stating whether or not they liked the product/service but it should explain the qualities of the product/service (technical, ergonomic, aesthetic qualities, how staff dealt with them, how long they had to wait to be served, etc.).
(e) The Customer/User can also provide their ideas/suggestions to make the product/service better.
(f) The Customer/User should not copy or repeat any comments written by a third party.
(g) Every Customer/User who purchases a product/ avails a service multiple times, will have an option to submit only one review for every purchase. In cases where the Customer/User has submitted multiple reviews for the same product/service, only the latest validated review will appear on the product page.
(h) The Customer/ User should be aware that any review posted/ submitted will not appear immediately on the product page, as it will go through the moderation process.
(i) Once all the relevant fields to submit a review are filled, the Customer/User will have to tick a box to confirm that the terms and conditions governing the publication of reviews is fully read and understood by the Customer/User.
(j) Decathlon Sports India reserves the right not to publish a review that is in breach of these terms & conditions. Likewise, Decathlon Sports India, reserves the option, at all times and without prior intimation, to remove any review that was previously posted after the moderation process, when it is of the opinion that it is in breach of these terms and conditions and/or any current legislation.
(k) Decathlon Sports India shall not be responsible and liable for something that is submitted as a review by the Customer/User and subsequently posted on the product page. In case of any objection arising from the Customer/User themselves or any third party, it will be the liability and responsibility of the Customer/User and not Decathlon Sports India.
(l) The Customer/User is aware that there could be instances when the government authorities could ask Decathlon Sports India to share the available data. The Customer/User confirms that no prior intimation/ permission will be needed from the Customer/User for such disclosure.
(m) In case the Customer/ User wishes to have their review deleted, or have any objection with regard to their personal details shared (including rectification or deletion), they can write by providing proof of their identity to send an Email to: [email protected].


What is the next step after a review is submitted by the Customer/User?

(a) Once the review is submitted by the Customer/User, a moderation process is carried out by the internal team of Decathlon Sports India to ensure that the review complies with the rules/ guidelines governing the submission of a review. The said moderation process is supported by an automated analysis assistant and also a human intervention as and when it is found to be necessary.
(b) If the review submitted by the Customer/User fails to comply with the rules/guidelines governing the submission of a review, the Customer/ User will be informed by way of an Email that their review cannot be validated in its current form along with the reasons for the same. Subsequently, the Customer/ User can provide a new review in line with these terms & conditions.
(c) Once the review is validated and email confirmation is sent to the Customer/User who submitted it, the review will be published/posted within 3 working days on the product page of the official website and mobile application of Decathlon Sports India. In rare cases, the Customer/User acknowledges that it may take more than 3 days from the date of validation of review due to technical and/or other reasons.
(d) By submitting a review the Customer/User agrees to this review becoming public authorizing Decathlon Sports India & its group companies to use, store, publish, translate, create derivative work, exploit, distribute and display the content of the review, either in full or in the form of an extract, as part of any protection arrangements that they might enjoy under intellectual property rights, and to use the first name provided with the review for any purposes, including marketing and advertising purposes, on any media, including the internet, email (hard copy and/or online), posters, point-of-sale advertising, handouts, publicity, magazines, television, radio, and similar
media worldwide.


What are the instances/cases when a review will not be validated?

A review will not be validated/ published and may be deleted if the review:

(a) is about a product or service which has not been used by the Customer/User who has submitted the review.
(b) does not relate to the product or service that is being spoken about in the review;
(c) is a question from the Customer/User without any description/ details of the experience with the product or service.
(d) contains too many spelling mistakes or poor syntax.
(e) is submitted in a language other than English.
(f) contains comments of an advertising and/or marketing nature, not related to any product usage or performance.
(g) contains racist, xenophobic, rude, abusive or libellous comments or anything which could hurt the beliefs and sentiments of a particular group, gender, religion, caste, creed etc.
(h) infringes the intellectual property rights of third parties (such as referring to another brand).
(i) makes reference to certain people, including known or identifiable personalities.
(j) includes an email address, phone number, postal address or any other data allowing a natural person or legal entity to be identified, either directly or indirectly.
(k) includes personal details including but not limited to bank card number, bank account number, social security number or any other data that could result in identity theft.
(l) contains concrete information involving conflicts of interest or political opinions.

The list mentioned above is not exhaustive and it could include any reason, which is not stated above.
